Today we have some pretty exciting leaf related news. Our first stem has finally fully emerged and is now in the process of fully extending. Soon it will actually look like a pea plant because of something other than the residual pea it grew out of! Here are the pics.

You can see that we have many little forks in the root system on the left. The right plant is still sort of under-developed but it should catch up soon.

In this shot you can see that the new little leaf is finally fully free of the seed it came from. We will soon see some growth that–hopefully–mirrors what we have been seeing in the roots! Only time will tell.
On a practical note we have increased the fogger off time to 2 minutes between fogging events. It has been like this for a full 24 hours now and we see absolutely no ill effects. We are going to continue to increase the fogger off time until we either get near the 10 minutes of off time the literature suggests or we see some ill effects. We’ve had to refill the bucket twice now but have still gone through less than 6 gallons of water total. With these off time increases, we seen drastic reduction in water usage and power usage. Both of these are good things.
That’s it for today. Stay safe and sustainable.
