  1. Contest!
  2. Contest Winner!

greenIt turns out that we had seven entries for the contest, which was quite an awesome surprise considering we were willing to accept that no one would participate. So, today we will be presenting the winning entry. The T-shirt winning author wished to remain anonymous, so unfortunately we cannot tell you who wrote this summary. Also, please note that we will be having more contests in the future, so make sure to check back in. Here is a link to this contest’s details.

“Unsustainable: when something cannot be continued indefinitely.  Sustainable then, is the exact opposite of unsustainable. Our current culture has produced and multiplied continually more unsustainable systems. This trending is poor since a definitive end of these systems is in sight. Sustainability means the continuation of the human race because with out it we will make too many things and eventually destroy ourselves.

In the future, I feel it would be nice to see further utilization of waste products rather than littering our planet with them. In order for the human race to continue living a lack of dependence on non renewable resources is essential. I feel that we need to stop the habit of use and abuse that humans have developed for dealing with the world. Larger networks of public transportation are necessary as well as smaller, more integrated, communities. It would be nice to walk down the street and have all of my necessities available without having to drive across the city to get what I need. So, more resources need to be in one place  in order to reduce the amount of time everyone spends traveling to get things they need.

It seems obvious to me that the self destructive behavior of our planet cannot continue for long with out eventually crushing the world and the human spirit. I see more sustainable homes, architecture, buildings, and cities a form of this necessary adaptation to the environment that we are destroying. Eventually humans will simply run out of fossil fuels to utilize, so it seems very silly of us to continue living as if there is no end in site. We appear to be a quite suicidal race if we see the end in site and do nothing to prevent it. By ~ Anonymous”

We show readers how to make their homes and lives more sustainable through do it yourself projects.
